Jean P. Roberts started painting in watercolour in 1999 and realized she would not get far without lessons. She was fortunate to start lessons with David McEown and continued with other artists learning different methods. Painting on Yupo has been a really fun thing to do; just watching the watercolour do its own thing is beautiful. Exciting!
Jean joined the RHGA in 2000, a club which she very much enjoys. Monday painting is certainly a great day, with artist friends and good critiques. Watercolour is still her favourite and only medium, very challenging and frustrating at times. Jean has participated in many shows and exhibitions. A big thrill was having two of her paintings used on the front and back covers of “Reflections – The Story of Go Home Lake”. This book was published in 2003 and tells the history of the Go Home Lake area where Jean and her family have had a cottage for many years. She stresses that painting is a hobby for her, of course she is delighted when somebody likes a painting enough to purchase it. What an honour!
