Geetha Shanmugam

When I was a child, I had a dream to do something artistic. However, growing up in a regimented society in India, it was very difficult to do something out of norm, express one’s interest and follow your passion. Still, I managed to express myself artistically by painting fabrics and glass ornaments. Many years later, I had a chance to realize my dream when I attended an oil painting class in 2015 at Varley art gallery, Markham. The class inspired me to paint with confidence. I selected oil as the medium for my artwork and it enabled me to communicate my thoughts through painting.

In recent years, I participated in many En Plein Air competitions and events. Since 2021, I have been a member of Richmond Hill Group of Artists. The club is amazing as it provides many opportunities for budding and experienced artists to showcase their artworks by conducting several shows throughout the year. I participated in a few shows, notably the one in Flato theatre in 2023. Some of my artworks are now on display at Dr. Reza clinic as part of the ongoing show, which started in November 2023.
